Kogitsune Helen

A tear jerker movie definitely although I love Korean movie, 'The Classic' more yet this movie makes me cry and I mean cries...a lot. Beautiful setting, love, strength and friendship between human and animal, that kind of movie is always inviting me because I'm an animal lover myself. At first, I cried because I miss my cat, Michelle, who died more than a year ago but towards the end, I cry to the movie,it touches my heart so deeply. If you think 'one liter of tears' is sad enough, wait till you see this.

Having a photographer mother who travels a lot, Taichi was left to live with her mother's boyfriend, a veterinarian. Being a new student, he finds it's hard to get a friend but that won't bother him because he used to shifting schools. Missing his mother, Taichi is quite an imaginative child, like he's living in his own world until he met a baby fox while coming back from school. He thought he would like to search for the fox mother and went to the police station but instead the officer send him back to the Vet's house, Dr. Kagami( I think that was his name).

Kagami tends to injured animal from nearby forest and abandoned animal. He's only source of income is from taking care a dog named Rossi while his owner travels. Living in such condition, an added animal patient in his clinic is such a burden though he actually like taking care all of them. When Taichi finally run away with the fox, he agreed to keep the fox under a condition, Taichi must help in the clinic. This is when the fox was found deaf, mute and blind . Taichi named her Helen and determined to help the baby fox to find her mother and make her well again.

Under his care, the fox finally eating and gain weight that enable her to go on surgery. Seeking help from his professor to cure the fox illness unfortunately Helen condition is beyond surgery, it's just a matter of time before she dies and Dr. Kagami decides Helen should be kept in the university. Knowing this, Taichi himself with the help of Rossi (he kidnapped the dog actually) went to the university to take Helen back. Found her in experimental table and she cried to him ( called out for her mother) shocking all in the room when they thought the fox unable to make any sound.

Taichi look after Helen with such loving and tender care surpassing what everyone can think of until to the end of Helen life. That's how meaningful and sweet this movie was. I really love the scene where Taichi and Helen in the field of Dandelions and Helen licking Taichi's tears like she understand so much how he feels. I remember what Taichi said, ''Helen, ame janaiyo, boku no mekara dekitaianda''.
